16-19 Tuition Fund 2021 - 2022 academic year

Newcastle City Learning has received extra funding this year from the 16-19 Tuition Fund. This is funding for the 2021 to 2022 academic year. The fund is ringfenced for schools, colleges and all other 16-19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). We are using this funding to support small group tuition for eligible young learners, and for those who need further support to address gaps in their education that have negatively impacted upon their progression prior to commencing study with Newcastle City Learning.

We have delivered both English and maths sessions in small groups to our young learners to provide them with very targeted support to help them to identify their gaps in knowledge and to provide them with high levels of support to ensure that they are able to make good progress. This approach had a significant impact in helping young learners to both consolidate and further develop their knowledge and skills in these key subjects. In some vocational subjects we have also been able to provide small group teaching to allow less confident learners to re-engage with study and to develop core personal, social and employability skills.
