Access to HE Diploma

We are taking enrolments for September 2021 starts!

Thinking about a career change? Want to become a nurse, criminologist or social worker? Studying an Access to HE Diploma can get you to university in one year. Please contact us for more details on 0191 277 3520 or email our coordinator

Who is the course for?

The Access to HE Diploma has been designed for those adults who want to access Higher Education. Most learners go on to take further study at university or college while others simply want to improve their job prospects. Whatever your reason for starting, you will find that you will be learning with other adults who all want to learn. It will help to build your confidence and develop your social and communication skills as well as increasing your knowledge of particular subject areas. It offers an alternative route into Higher Education for learners.

Over the years we have progressed hundreds of learners into universities all over the country.

You will require good communication skills and literacy and numeracy at level 2. We will ask you to come in and undertake an initial assessment so that we can determine your best route into the Diploma. It may be that you will need to do something different before you start, and your initial assessment and interview will help us to determine this.

How does the course work?

We are currently offering the Health diploma and the Humanities and Social Sciences diploma. Your choice of diploma will be determined by the degree course or future career you wish to follow. Sometimes it will be determined by the qualifications you already have. If you are unsure, further details and advice on pathways will be given during your induction interview.

Important note

Many undergraduate degree courses require GCSE in Maths, English and Science at grade C/4 or above. If you do not have these qualifications, you will have to study them separately. It is essential that you research your degree course and university requirements before starting your Access to HE diploma. This will ensure that your subject choices and previous qualifications meet the universities' entry requirements.

You may also find it beneficial to attend our English for Academic Purposes course prior to starting your Diploma.
