Become a Governor for NCL

Are you interested in becoming part of our Governing body? We have Learner and Community Governor vacancies.

Newcastle City Learning has an active Governing body which represents both public interest and the interests of our local communities in particular. They provide rigour and challenge to our Service, as well as advice. Whilst the management of the Service remains the responsibility of the local authority, the Governing body plays a vital role in overseeing the way the Newcastle City Learning is run and making sure we deliver high quality learning opportunities and make effective use of the resources we have available.

As a Governor, which is an unpaid position, you would need to do at least an hour of reading a month and attend Governing body meetings every few months. You may also be called to sit upon a sub-committee and speak to inspectors or other interested parties about your role.

If this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, email our Chair Melissa Middleton at with a note explaining your interest and your contact details and we can then arrange a conversation with you.
