Remote Education with NCL

What will remote learning look like?

During the delivery of programmes for our young learners (16-18), apprentices and adult learners there may be occasion for us to move to remote learning for a period. It is our intention to support you through these periods by moving learning online.

Your tutors and pastoral support officers will contact you to advise you of the new arrangements and provide you will a suitable timetable so that you know exactly when your online learning will take place.

This learning will be delivered through Google Classroom, and for 16-19 year olds the NCFE Skillswise online learning programme. You will be provided with an account so that you can access all the resources you need in this respect.  

 

You will also be able to keep in contact with your tutors via Google Classroom, and also to submit your work to your tutors.

Your tutors will provide you with regular feedback on your work to help clarify your understanding and to help you move forward.  It is really important that you submit work regularly and act on any feedback given by your tutors to ensure that you continue to progress in your learning.

If you require access to specialist equipment or resources, please do advise your tutors. They will do their best to accommodate your needs.

If you do not have access to suitable IT equipment or connectivity, please do advise your tutors. We can help with equipment and internet connections to ensure that you can fully participate in remote learning and stay on track.
If you do not have a suitable environment for learning at home, again please do talk to us – as you may be able to come into college to undertake your learning in a quiet and safe environment.

We continue to offer specialist support to those learners with Specific Educational needs. Your tutor will discuss with you how these will continue to be supported during the period of remote learning.

 

We are committed to ensure that all NCL learners continue to make good progress in your learning.

 

The 16 -19 Bursary Fund, and our Discretionary Learning Support Fund for adults provide financial support to help students overcome specific financial barriers to participation so that they can remain in education. This may include the provision of devices and connectivity support. As set out in our Learner Support Policy we will decide what support a student needs on the basis of individual assessment, in line with bursary fund rules that all support must be based on individual circumstances and needs.
