An apprenticeship is a paid job where an employee learns and gains new skills in the workplace.   This is a skills development programme which leads to a nationally recognised qualification.  The apprentice gains this through a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practise new skills in a working environment.

As an apprentice you will:

• Work along experienced staff within the workplace
• Gain job-specific skills
• Earn a wage and get paid holidays
• Be given time to study by your employer related to your role

Apprenticeships benefit employers and boost the skills of the workforce to improve economic productivity. An Apprenticeship is not just for a new staff member; the levy supports training to upskill staff members who are already in post.
