Counselling Courses

L1 Award in Interpersonal Skills (Introduction to Counselling)

The course requires individuals to have strong mental health and is not suitable for individuals currently receiving psychological support or looking for such support.

You will need to have access to a laptop/computer and be competent in producing word- processed documents. Individuals are also required to hold a full level 1 English qualification (not ESOL or Entry level).

The course increases your knowledge through examining the area of counselling and related areas, helps to develop your own self- awareness, teaches you basic core counselling skills and facilitates the development of their application.

The application of these skills will strengthen your ability to listen attentively and facilitate awareness in another. They support you to refrain from giving advice or offering solutions and to identify significant clues clients present both in their spoken content and the delivery.

Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling Qualifications

These courses require individuals to have strong mental health and are not suitable for individuals currently receiving psychological support or looking for such support.

You will need to have access to a laptop/computer and be competent in producing word- processed documents. Individuals are also required to hold a full level 2 English qualification (not ESOL or Entry level).

These qualifications are useful for anyone who would like to develop their use of counselling skills for use in either work or a personal capacity.

These courses do not qualify learners to practice as a counsellor but are suitable for those who wish to increase their self-awareness, understanding of counselling and the associated techniques. The communication skills you will develop, will prove invaluable to enhance interactions with others and especially in a helping capacity. The knowledge and skills on offer, can be utilised to complement an existing role, or as a basis for continued study to attain a qualification in this sector.
